Round Rock Serving Center

ST. RICHARD’S COMMUNITY OUTREACH TO THE ROUND ROCK AREA SERVING CENTER

The Round Rock Area Serving Center (RRASC), located at 1099 E. Main, Round Rock, was started by area churches in 1986 to serve the needy in our community. St. Richard’s has been a member since the Serving Center’s inception. In 1990, a total of 1,100 families were served in the entire year. The number of people needing assistance has grown over the years as have the services provided. Program services include the Food Pantry, 34 community gardens, Keep Round Rock Warm, clothing and furniture vouchers, Computers for Kids, assistance with rent, utilities, prescriptions, transportation and temporary lodging.  In 2020, 25,478 people were served with compassion and hope while meeting their physical needs.

St. Richard’s has been an avid supporter of the RRASC. Our parish representative to the Serving Center is Kate Monteiro,  katharine.lukas@gmail.com . Cady Clark currently serves on the Board of Directors, cadyclark@austin.rr.com or 512 791-1025. The Serving Center operates primarily with volunteers. You can get involved by volunteering on an individual basis. Information on orientation can be found at www.rrasc.org.  The parish also has 5 work dates a year where parishioners come together to help meet the needs for a few hours. In 2021, the following dates remain for this parish activity: May 15, July   , September 11, and December 4 from 9:30am -12p.

The Pumpkin Patch has been a significant source of financial support for RRASC so your work in the Patch is vital and greatly appreciated.

In 2020 the RRASC’s annual Karamu Fundraiser was cancelled due to the pandemic. This year we will have a wonderful event with great food, nationally recognized entertainment and an opportunity join other parishioners in supporting this important cause. Tickets will be available soon at www.rrasc.org, be sure to enter St. Richard’s as your table location so that you will be seated with other parishioners.
