Hugh Chandler is a unique solo performer, combining skills as a composer and a classical/acoustic guitarist. He completed his M.Mus. in guitar performance from the University of South Carolina in 1981, and a doctorate in music composition at the University of Texas in 1989. His compositional output spans a wide range of media, from solo guitar to chamber music, electronic media, and full orchestra; it also includes music for a number of short film productions as well as background theater music. Hugh’s composition Micropoints won the 1986 Casio Electronic Music competition at the University of Texas. His work Two Preludes for Guitar is published by Tuscany Publications, and has been favorably reviewed in two international guitar journals. Classical Guitar Magazine praised his “genuinely skillful writing” and “sense of stylistic awareness and authority.” Hugh’s music has been performed throughout the United States, Mexico, Sweden and Ireland.
Admission is free; if you are able to contribute, donations for the artist will be gratefully accepted at the door ($10 suggested). Plenty of free parking is available on site at 1420 E. Palm Valley Blvd., Round Rock (78664).

COMING UP — flautist JOLENE MADEWELL on February 15 at 5 p.m.! Please note that this month’s concert has been shifted a week later than usual so as not to conflict with Super Bowl 2026.
