Staff – Rev. Jerry Lyle

Deacon Lyle is returning to Saint Richards and is beginning his 15th year of ordained ministry.  He was assigned to Christ Episcopal in Cedar Park for his fieldwork assignment and simultaneously was chosen to join another local pastor to create a Chaplaincy Dept. at the Round Rock Police Department for 250 officers and 375 administrative staff, which is still functioning well today.  His first assignment following ordination was here at Saint Richards for 2 1/2 years, then Bishop Doyle assigned him to Epiphany Episcopal Church in Burnet for 5 ½ years, subsequently he was assigned for 4 ½ years, and now will be assisting with pastoral visitations, working services twice a month and other duties as assigned.

Education:  Studied at McCallum High School, Austin; Studied at University of Texas at Austin; Studied at the Iona School of Ministry (attached to the Episcopal Seminary of the Southwest)

Background work for the deacon:  Hospice Austin, volunteer and clergy; Habitat for Humanity; worked at MHMR as teenager working with children with mental deficiencies; mentoring high school students in Austin; Hospital Chaplaincy at Hospice Austin’s Hospital, Seton Hospital in Austin, and Scott and White Hospital in Round Rock; I created a weekly ministry to a local Alzheimer’s Nursery Home (The Cottages) where with six of us we took Sunday services to the residents and also staff who had to work on Sunday’s for over 20 years, until Covid shut down the good work Bob Moody had continued to provide them after I was transferred to another location; I have written a daily meditation, first on email and then transitioned to my own blog for almost 30 years to share with people seeking to know God better.

Deacon Lyle and his wife Pat have been married for 53 years and have two sons; Jerry Jr.(who is with our heavenly Father), and James along with his wife Renee and Emma their daughter.  Saint Richards has been our home church, and now officially will be again.
